Toxicroak is a frog. She does.

Introduction

Looks like the cheeky frog is up to her zoning antics once again! Toxicroak loves to use her projectile tools to keep out the opponent and keep them on their toes! With incredible zoning tools such as 5B and 2B, a potent poison mechanic and an incredible super that can lead into devastating damage, Toxicroak dominates any opponent who dares to play into her trap!


However, all this talk of projectiles has left Toxie on the frail front in close-quarters combat. She is tied with Mienshao for the lowest health and guard health, and with almost no potent up-close moves, her trap can fall apart if the opponent closes the distance. But if you like poisonous zoners with attitude, Toxie is the one for you!

Pick if you like Avoid if you dislike
  • Keepaway King: 5b, 4b, and 2b all help establish screen-space, dominating opponents without the tools to navigate them.
  • Damage Over Time: Toxicroak's poison mechanic slowly drains the opponent's lifebar until Croak is parried or bursted.
  • Unblockable Super: 624b is a 2 bar unblockable bubble with a lingering hitbox that both dominates neutral and leads to massive damage with the right setup.
  • Fragile Frog: Tied for the lowest health and guard value, Croak's gameplan can fall apart quickly if their opponent manages to close the distance.
  • Keep Them at Projectiles' Length: As mentioned by the above, Croak struggles greatly with close range, and can be destroyed quickly if it doesn't regain distance.

  • Toxicroak's best pressure normal, with huge advantage on hit and block.
  • Only normal that will link to grounded 3A on regular hit, for meter build.
  • In the corner it becomes a great juggle tool in 624B combos as it has great damage, the normal with the second-best vertical range after 4a and does not deal that much pushback.

  • Press 2B to detonate the bubble. Bubble will auto-detonate after a set period of time.
  • Certain moves, such as 6B and any jumping normal, will immediately detonate the bubble.
  • Can be input with 1B or 3B to create a slower or faster travelling bubble, respectively.

Toxicroaks stalls itself in the air before sending itself forward in the air.

  • Can change the direction the arrow goes by changing the direction you press. j7/8/9A sends you straight upward, j6A sends you forward, and j1/2/3/4/5A sends you downward.
  • You cannot change the direction you go in after you begin moving. You can only change the direction BEFORE the movement starts. It's worth to note that while sends you downward, doing j5a to try and go from either the upward or fowrard direction to the downward one will not work, as you're just effectively releasing the input instead of changing it.
  • Can be used to escape the corner, especially when angled upwards.
