Introduction

HEAVYTEX can be one of the scariest characters in the game. With the ability to power up his command grabs by using OD Howdy, he can effectively scare the opponent to death with his potent tick grabs and surprisingly decent zoning game. Use HEAVYTEX if you want your opponent to know fear. He has his downsides of course, being the slowest character in the game in many regards, but he makes up for it in sheer power.

“Is this your first rodeo?”

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Can just kill you: HEAVYTEX can one-touch every character in the game, given he has tipped his hat enough times. Although this is definitely a 2nd or 3rd round technique, it’s still horrifying, and HEAVYTEX is fully capable of winning neutral while saving meter.
  • Grab Super: Super Tornado is a frame 2 fully invincible command grab. It’s great for punish unsafe moves in neutral and calling out frame traps because it’s just ridiculously big.
  • Tick throws: HEAVYTEX is great at setting up tick throws from a lot of his normals. 2H is a great example as on block it leaves you -3 at worst and +2 at best. 2H and 6H, when spaced well enough, can catch a number of counterpokes with grab while completely avoiding light attacks.
  • Sloooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww: By far the worst movement speed in the game, on top of also being the 2nd biggest body type.
  • Can be zoned into hell: Despite the big iron on his hip, HEAVYTEX can and will be camped and shot at. There is not really anything he can do beyond trying to make his way in with OD Quick Draw, and that’s still really slow.
  • Character specific: HEAVYTEX cannot use light Quick Draw against YUMELODY because it is replaced by a sort of taunt that only deals 1 damage. How cute!

Unique Tools

Howdy is about as unique as it gets. For the low, low price of 1 meter, you can power up your command grab by 100 flat damage. It’s like putting money in your savings account. This carries between rounds, and even if you die. Howdy!

  • The Overdrive version, on the other hand, does have a use. It increases the power of HEAVYTEX's next command grab by 100, and it stacks. This buff only goes away upon landing a command grab, and even persists between rounds.
