Introduction
MEGASTAR is technically the first guest character in the game along with MASAMIOH, being inspired by FoxyBoxy’s other work, ZODIAC DX. Wielding the power of the zodiac, MEGASTAR channels the spirit of Sagat, wielding two fireballs and a wicked dragon punch. A powerful defensive fighter, this robot spends most of his time keeping space with Moon Shots and tearing up air space with his great DP. This is not his only virtue, as MEGASTAR’s kit packs some damage as well.
“Victory was written in the stars.”
Strengths |
Weaknesses
|
- Top Tier zoning: MEGASTAR can ruin any character’s day with the right mix of high and low Moon Shot. it’s a solid projectile and jumping over High Moon Shot is possible, but almost impossible for larger characters. Combined with Jet Upper, MEGASTAR’s keep out game is almost unmatched.
- Floaty Jump: MEGASTAR is the only character in the game with low gravity. This is both a blessing and a curse, as it allows MEGASTAR more time to avoid enemy projectiles and punish, however it also makes anti-airing very easy for the opponent.
|
- Very Short Combos: MEGASTAR’s combo routes are not very long or complex. He cannot combo out of Jet Upper or either Moon Shot without spending meter, and he knocks down too early for command heavy to land most of the time. This is mitigated by how good MEGASTAR is at the midscreen, but it’s still quite lacking compared to other characters.
- Large: MEGASTAR is tied for the 2nd tallest character in the game with several others, putting him in the big body class. This makes getting hit hurt a little worse, as combos are now easier to land on MEGASTAR. It also makes avoiding small, fast characters like NEKOGAMI difficult because divekick and other aerial attacks will hit you sooner.
|
Unique Tools
MEGASTAR’s unique tools are his Moon Shots and Jet Upper. Moon Shots cover almost all areas on the stage and Jet Upper will destroy any air approach at a crazy fast 4 frames of startup.

- Not a very good move. 6H is better in most situations as it does more damage, travels further, and juggles in a combo.

- Tied with MAXCYBER for the most plus jump-in in the game. However, GRANDSKY's floaty jump makes it worse in practice than it should be.
