Ryuko is rather lacking in some areas due to her stubby normals, lackluster projectiles, and the majority of her moves being ground only. This forces her into a turtle playstyle in most matchups and she requires patience and game knowledge to know when to take her turn. Her ability to turtle is quite notable, as she can punish many options with her fast sidestep and defensive options on reaction. With her strong defensive options she can stall and time her opponents out if need be.
