Bloody Roar Extreme/Stun the Insect

Introduction

Stun is a defensive grappler with great oki and long-reaching normals. He boasts the highest defense modifier in the game, an amazing Guard Attack, access to a counter, a move that crushes all highs and mids for its entire duration, and unique hover moves while in the air. As a grappler, Stun is able to mix people up with his chain throws, particularly his Brain Crash: if the opponent attempts to tech the second part of the chain throw but Stun does no input, they fall prone and can be hit with a follow-up combo. Stun is not a very mobile or fast-attacking character (as expected from a grappler), so it can be difficult for him to apply pressure without first scoring a knockdown; however, while in his Hyperbeast Form, Stun will open his wings and gain both immense mobility and slightly increased attack speed, allowing him to make great use of his far-reaching normals.

Pros Cons
  • Defensive Powerhouse: Sporting a number of powerful defensive options, including a fantastic Guard Attack and the highest defense modifier in the game, Stun is more than capable of coming out on top in scramble situations and turning them to his favour.
  • Mobile Beast Form: To compensate for his poor mobility in Human Form, Stun's Beast Form grants him access to a unique hover jump that allows him to cover aerial space quite effectively. In addition, his Hyperbeast Form significantly increases his movement speed across the board, allowing him to approach in ways he would normally be incapable of.
  • Devastating Mixups: Thanks to a selection of highly effective okizeme tools and terrifying chain throws, Stun is able to really put his opponent in the blender after he scores that first knockdown.
  • Poor Normal Mobility: While his Beast Forms offer him some degree of unique mobility, Stun's general movement speed is extremely slow. This significantly hampers his ability to escape pressure or even navigate neutral compared to much of the cast.
  • Big Target: Stun is a real big guy, which means that he has a large hurtbox that will cause him to be hit by many attacks that would otherwise whiff on most other characters.
  • Precious Hyperbeast: Stun's Hyperbeast Form is extremely useful to him, as it allows him to cover for his one big weakness — his mobility. However, due to the long animations on his attacks, Stun's Hyperbeast Form effectively has a lower duration than most other characters, which means he needs to be very judicious with how and when he uses it.
