JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R/Yuya Fungami

From Mizuumi Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Introduction

A minor antagonist-turned-ally in Diamond is Unbreakable, the fourth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Yuya Fungami is a character who utilizes the long-range Stand Highway Star to pressure opponents in neutral and capitalize off mistakes, all while slowly draining their vitality.

Yuya has access to the passive Drain Nutrients ability, which is activated through a number of his special moves, HHA, and GHA. While in Stand Off, Yuya can make good use of the move "I got you!", an Unblockable attack that tracks the opponent and continuously drains their Health and HH Gauge on hit. This move is a great tool to pester the opponent, as it forces characters who are effective at long-ranged combat to approach Yuya. To contend neutral, "Come on, haggle with me a little more." makes for a decent neutral poke, with the Light version of the move making for a particularly effective anti-air.

In Stand On, Yuya's moveset is centered around applying pressure and starting his extremely meter efficient combos. His normals in Stand On are all very solid, with s.5L and s.2L making for decent pokes and s.jM acting as a fast air-to-air option, while also causing a launch animation. Most of Yuya's main pressure tools are found in Stand On: "Shut up already, you idiot!" is a fast command grab that replenishes a good bit of Yuya's health and meter, and "*Sniff sniff sniff*" is a quick Overhead that can lead into a full combo on hit. Utilizing his decent frame data for stagger pressure while alternating between his command grab and Overhead is an effective method of opening up the opponent. "Attack by following their scent!" is an amazing offensive tool, as it deals good damage, can hit OTG, activates Drain Nutrients, and forces Yuya into Stand Off to allow for extended combos.

Yuya's main weakness is his lackluster defense. On top of not possessing a 4-frame Light normal while in Stand Off, he also lacks any decent reversal options, making it easy for the opponent to overwhelm him on wake-up and during pressure. To make matters worse, Yuya has some of the lowest health in the game, allowing for the opponent to deal devastating damage in just a few interactions.

  • Drain Nutrients: Through Highway Star, Yuya can steal the opponent's Health and HH Gauge to replenish his own.
Playstyle
JJASBR Yuya Small Icon.png Yuya Fungami is a Stand character who capitalizes off mistakes in neutral while siphoning the opponent's resources.
Pros Cons
  • Meter Battery: On top of his passive ability Drain Nutrients, most of Yuya's special moves grant him an impressive amount of meter.
  • Consistent Reward: Due to his above average meter gain, Yuya can consistently cash out with high damage combos.
  • Long-Range Stand: Thanks to the continuous health and meter drain of "I got you!", Yuya has his own unique way of dealing with zoning, forcing the opponent to play at his pace.
  • Poor Vitality: While Yuya can steal a bit of health from the opponent through his special moves, his low health pool is still a detriment.
  • "You wouldn't kick a defenseless guy's ass, right!?": Yuya lacks any practical defensive/reversal options, meaning he will be open to setups that other characters could avoid.

Drain Nutrients

Whenever Yuya lands "I've got you!" or "Attack by following their scent!", Highway Star will attach itself to the opponent. For as long as Highway Star remains attached, the opponent's Health and HH Gauge are passively siphoned away, with the stolen Health being converted into White Damage for Yuya. The attachment ends as soon as Yuya takes damage, enters Stand On, or uses any move involving Highway Star.

In addition to this, the following attacks will steal set amounts of Health and HH Gauge:
