JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R/Risotto Nero

From Mizuumi Wiki

Introduction

Risotto Nero, leader of Passione's Assassination Squad in Vento Aureo, the fifth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, is a mix-up character who excels at using his different tools to attack the opponent from different angles. His Style button allows him to not only turn invisible, but he is also able to move himself while doing so, giving him access to movement other characters do not have. With his kit, he is able to make relatively safe attempts on the opponent's life.

On offense, Risotto can utilize different playstyles depending on the situation. Most often, Risotto will be using "The assassin that no one could find" and "Assassin" to find openings in the opponent's defense or safely back off during his own pressure. However, Risotto can also fight from afar using "You can find iron anywhere in this world.", a projectile that can be fired straight forward or angled upwards. Fighting from afar isn't Risotto's strongest point, but it becomes much stronger once he limits the opponent's movement by applying his Iron Deficiency debuff. His HHA and GHA are both fullscreen hitgrab projectiles, with the latter also applying the Iron Deficiency debuff. All of this allows Risotto to play to his opponent's weaknesses on defense or a weakness he inflicts.

On defense, Risotto does not have any meterless reversal options, but he does have access to a counter with "I know how I'll kill you.". This counter applies the Iron Deficiency debuff, allowing him to turn the pressure around onto the opponent in an instant. Risotto can also use "Assassin" to maneuver out of the way of the opponent's attacks; however, while he is protected from projectiles and Throws, he is still vulnerable to strike attacks, meaning it will not work if the opponent is attacking directly. His HHA and GHA are both invincible as well, but cost meter to use, are much riskier options, and their nature as projectiles make them more awkward to use defensively.

  • Assassin: Risotto can turn himself invisible, making him immune to Throws and projectiles.
  • Iron Deficiency: Risotto is able to apply a debuff to the opponent that prevents them from dashing, running, and gaining HH Gauge, allowing him to zone more easily with his projectiles.
Playstyle
JJASBR Risotto Small Icon.png Risotto Nero is a Stand character who utilizes his assassination techniques to find or create a weakness in the opponent's defense.
Pros Cons
  • Assassin: Risotto's "Assassin" not only gives him unique movement for pressure and combos, but also allows him to make his pressure safe by backing off in an instant and becoming immune to all Throws and most projectiles.
  • Metallica: Risotto is not only able to limit the opponent's movements with Iron Deficiency, but he also has access to the ability to heal himself, allowing him to gain a large advantage in an instant with a single debuff.
  • True Mix-ups: Unlike other mix-up characters like Lisa Lisa, Risotto has true mix-ups with "The assassin that no one could find", as the L version is a true blockstring and the H version will acts as a frame trap.
  • Guaranteed Unblockables: Risotto can set up guaranteed unblockables with Iron Deficiency and Assists, allowing him to get guaranteed damage against an opponent after having already dealt a large amount of damage to them.
  • Low Commitment: Many of Risotto's moves have low recovery, and his Unblockable attack can be cancelled into other moves, allowing him to bait out opponents, quickly cancel in and out of normals during pressure or a combo, and remain safe from almost any range.
  • Meter Reliant: In order to use "Assassin" in pressure and combos, Risotto must use 0.5 HH Gauge, which in addition to the cost of his heal, HHA, and GHA, can add up quickly.

Because you are already complete.

If Risotto lands certain moves, he will apply his Iron Deficiency debuff. This debuff is visible by his opponent expelling a pale yellow glow and their HH Gauge becoming rusted.

The duration for the Iron Deficiency debuff depends on the move used to apply it:

Iron Deficiency prevents the opponent from using backdash, forward dash, run, and airdash (if applicable). It also prevents the victim from gaining HH Gauge by any means (except for JJASBR Akira Small Icon.png Akira's "Right Hand Rockout", as well as his Assist). This allows Risotto to do practically whatever he wants with the opponent, as they are locked out of both a main movement option and a major resource. Risotto can use this opportunity to either zone out the opponent with "You can find iron anywhere in this world." or land his Unblockable "Control iron within 5-10 meters".

Risotto extends his arms outwards and extends Metallica across a delimited area, performing an attack with it after a set period of time.

  • Move performance is identical across all versions.
  • Causes knockback on hit.
  • Risotto must hold the button to perform the attack. Tapping or releasing the button too early will result in the attack being cancelled.
  • The detection range, while very large, does not reach fullscreen.
  • If "Assassin" is active, Risotto remains invisible until the move ends or is cancelled.
  • During the countdown, Risotto can cancel the move with a normal attack. If the countdown is completed, Risotto can only cancel the move with a Flash Cancel.
  • The attack that triggers after the countdown ends is considered, in part, to be a Throw. As such, it can't be avoided with Stylish Guard or blocked by attacks with Auto Guard property.
    • Quite uniquely, the move is also capable of bypassing the opponent's invincibility. A counterplay to this move is to absorb the hit through a move with Super Armor.
