Introduction

Ghiaccio is an antagonist in Vento Aureo, the fifth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and is a Stand User who combines slow, methodical gameplay with high speed movement and mix-ups. Ghiaccio specializes in freezing his opponent, usually in the form of a crumple that he combos off of.

In Stand Off, Ghiaccio moves slowly and focuses on pressuring the opponent with "And now you're frozen solid!" and "I'll shatter you!", mixing up between a multi-hit projectile or a command grab that confirms into a combo. In Stand On, Ghiaccio moves much faster and focuses on using s.6M, s.3H, and s.jH to rush the opponent down and hit them with plenty of overheads and lows as well as a few crossups sprinkled in. On top of all of this, Ghiaccio has some great defensive options with "Are you friggin' mocking me?!" and "White Album Gently Weeps!", two guard options that interrupt the opponent when Ghiaccio blocks.

  • Are you friggin' mocking me?!: While in Stand Off, Ghiaccio has access to a Guard Cancel for the cost of 0.5 HH Gauge.
  • I can slide along!: While in Stand On, Ghiaccio moves significantly faster. He also becomes one of the only characters that is able to run both forward and backwards, giving him more maneuverability than most.
  • Restands: Ghiaccio has access to restands while in Stand On, allowing him to either use different moves in a combo or reset the opponent to open up more mixups.
  • Resilient Stand On: Because White Album forms around Ghiaccio, it can remain active after non-cinematic knockdowns.

Pros Cons
  • High Speed Movement: While in Stand On, Ghiaccio moves much faster, making him a very effective rushdown character.
  • Potent Defense: Ghiaccio has two options that counter the opponent while he is blocking. "Are you friggin' mocking me?!" is used in Stand Off in order to freeze the opponent and crumple them at the cost of half a bar. His HHA, "White Album Gently Weeps!", is an install that allows him to deflect projectiles and crumple opponents who attack him directly.
  • Meter Battery: Ghiaccio does not use a lot of meter in his combos (if any), and can build a full bar of meter with a Stand On BnB, allowing him to spend his meter on HHA or GHA with comfort.
  • Potent Crossups: While in Stand On, Ghiaccio's air special allows him to essentially jump again after performing an overhead attack. This allows him to jump forward, backwards, or straight up, making his cross-ups strong as he can keep opponents guessing.
  • Scary Vortex: With all of his combined tools, Ghiaccio can set up a vortex with restands, meaty projectiles, and strike/throw mixups that can consistently loop if the opponent doesn't break out of the setup, making Ghiaccio's vortex potential very strong.
  • Stubby Normals: Ghiaccio has stubby light normals, which can make it hard to beat out moves from up close. Similarly, due to White Album being attached to Ghiaccio, he does not gain much range in Stand On when compared to other Stand characters.
  • Reliant on Stand On: While in Stand Off, Ghiaccio's movement speed is very poor, and he does not have a way to end combos in a hard knockdown outside of 2H.

Ghiaccio summons White Album and freezes the air around him, creating floating ice crystals that remain around him for a period of time.

  • Locks Ghiaccio into Stand On for its entire duration.
    • If Ghiaccio uses this move while in Stand Off, he is rendered fully invincible during the forced transition into Stand On.
  • While active, Guarding will deflect non-HHA/GHA projectiles and freeze opponents if they attack directly.
    • The freeze transitions into a crumple.
