How do I play this game?

A modern** console version has never been released for this game so the main method of playing it (without arcade hardware and boards) is to use an emulator such as Flycast Dojo or Demul. It is also playable through Fightcade.

(**It has recently been ported to Dreamcast https://twitter.com/SmokeMonsterTWI/status/1330676311438675968?s=20)

What is this game's story about?

All of the game's lore is available on the website. Is it also being translated into English by @wikipe__tan.

What is the difference between the Atomiswave and Nesica versions?

There are 3 versions of this game.

  • Atomiswave (Oldest version and easiest to obtain and run using Demul)
  • Nesica 1.0 (Version that introduced new balance changes and mechanics)
  • Nesica 1.1 (Bug Fixes and minor balance changes. Version currently in JP Arcades)

The Nesica version is the most recent version of the game with balance changes and new additional mechanics. Any major changes to characters will be noted in their individual character pages or you can reference them here.

Atomiswave Specifics

Notable bugs/Mechanics not present in Nesica Versions:

  • Hazama/Sheryl/Garnet cannot immediately block after Ground Recovery.
  • Air Dodge Special Move Lockout bug is present.
  • Beatrice High Air Dodge has ridiculous amounts of invincibility compared to everyone else making it very abusable.
  • Some characters retain some invincibility after a ground roll (upper or lower body).

Nesica Specifics

All characters are unlocked and available on the character select. The time attack and survival modes are also easily selectable when you insert coin. Graphics are repolished and UI cleaned up. Command lists are viewable on the sidebars.

V1.0

  • Addition of Double Impact Break

V1.1

  • CPU Difficulty revised
  • Increased window where Impact Break is accepted
  • Reversal window increased
  • Damage after impact blow fixed.

Which version is better?

The Nesica version offers better gameplay balance but is unfortunately difficult to obtain and emulate due to the nature of Nesica software. The Atomiswave version is easy to find on the internet and is the version usually played outside of Japan because of this.
