Introduction

- Permanent Stand On: While Diego is considered a Mounted character, his Dismounted state makes use of his Stand, THE WORLD, at all times.
- Mounted: While on his horse, Diego cannot be downed by a sweep, be thrown, or be crumpled, but also loses access to Stylish Evade, Stylish Guard, and Throw.
- Holy Corpse Parts: Diego can pick up the Holy Corpse parts, gaining different blessings with each part obtained.
- THE WORLD: Diego is one of four characters in the game (along with DIO and both incarnations of Jotaro Kujo) with the ability to stop time, with a very slow startup possible at 1.5 bars that gets faster the more meter has been built. It is similar to Axl Low's One Vision timestop from Guilty Gear -Strive-, although all limits of the IPS still apply. All attacks can be performed in timestop, including grabs, which automatically end the timestop.
Holy Corpse
All of the Steel Ball Run characters possess the Holy Corpse mechanic. This spawns three parts of the Holy Corpse over time for the Steel Ball Run characters to collect. Each part collected provides a buff to the character who picks it up; this buff is active until the part is lost via being knocked down, which drops the most recent part collected. Holy Corpse parts collected by a character will be carried over between rounds.
For Diego, the buffs applied are the following:
- One: Diego gains increased movement speed while Dismounted.
- Two: Enhances "My trial is to conquer and kill at all costs." by allowing Diego to have 2 traps out at a time, instead of just 1.
- Three: The Guard Gauge will decrease more slowly. In addition, Diego becomes capable of regenerating Guard Gauge while Mounted.
