Introduction

This article is about Joseph Joestar's Stardust Crusaders incarnation, primarily known as "Oldseph". For information about his Battle Tendency incarnation, see Joseph Joestar.

  • Fighting on the run!: Old Joseph is one of the only characters that is able to run both forward and backwards, giving him more maneuverability than most characters.
  • EX Moves: For the cost of 0.5 bars, Old Joseph can perform enhanced versions of certain special moves. These enhanced moves cause Hamon Damage against Stone Mask characters, making these moves deal extra damage against them.
  • Grappler: Old Joseph has access to multiple grabs and hitgrabs, granting him many ways to cause hard knockdowns.

Pros Cons
  • Range: Attacks involving Hermit Purple's vines grant Old Joseph some of the longest non-projectile reach in the game.
  • Anti-Burst: Thanks to his several hitgrabs, Old Joseph can avoid Reversal Assists more easily than most characters.
  • Meter Efficient: Old Joseph can deal respectable damage without spending too much meter.
  • Hard Knockdowns: Old Joseph has several, meterless ways to end combos in hard knockdown.
  • Hamon Breathing: Despite his status as a Stand User, Old Joseph can refill his HH Gauge not unlike Hamon characters, granting him a way to generate resources.
  • Predictable: Old Joseph's moveset doesn't allow for much variance from his gameplan, making him easy to read. Similarly, his ways to mix and open up the opponent are few and far between, not aided by his command grab being easily reactable.
  • Slow: Old Joseph's attacks possess rather high recovery, making them dangerous on whiff.
  • Stand On Pressure: While in Stand On, Old Joseph does not have any safe options to end blockstrings with, while also being unable to use Stand Rush unlike other Stand characters.
  • Anti-Airs: Although effective at further ranges, Old Joseph's anti-airs are not very reliable from up close, making close-range jump-ins against him rather effective.
  • Self-Damage: The tar left behind by "Coal Tar" can harm Old Joseph as well as knock him down, making it very easy to turn the tables and end up in an uncomfortable position.
