  • I'll Be Right Back: Hol Horse is one of the only characters that is able to run both forward and backwards, giving him more maneuverability than most characters.
  • Enhanceable Specials: By pressing S, Hol Horse is capable of buffing some of his skills, giving it new properties such as causing knockdown.
  • You're Up, J. Geil!: By spending 0.5 bar, Hol Horse can set up a trap that can be activated during nearly any action to crumple the opponent, complementing his zoning.

Pros Cons
  • Flexible Zoning: Each of Hol Horse's 236X bullets fire in different directions that can be used to vary his zoning options. 236S can also change directions up to 4 times, making it adaptable depending on the situation.
  • Priority Projectiles: When enhanced, Hol Horse's bullets is capable of beating out every non-GHA projectile in the game. The only exceptions are up against Giorno ("Can you escape destruction?" during Requiem will cancel them), Joseph (EX Clacker Volleys will clash upon interaction), and Mista (bullets will clash when he's in Resolve).
  • Unique Combo Breaker: When the puddle is active, Hol Horse is able to call in Hanged Man even while being attacked, giving him a unique combo breaker option outside of Reversal Assists that can be used to save himself so as long as he's near the active puddle.
  • Linear Bullets: Hol Horse's bullets stay in the same lane that they were fired from, making Dodging quite an effective tool against them.
  • Slow Zoning: Hol Horse's skills generally come out more slower compared to other fast zoners, making him pale in comparison in terms of speed. His enhanced bullets do him alleviate him out against fellow zoners though thanks to the priority.

Hol Horse's meter gain and damage output can change depending on what the opponent's gender is; for female fighters, Hol Horse deals more damage, but has a reduced meter gain rate. This is indicated on top of Hol's meter gauge to signal whether the effect is on or not.
