Big Body

Story

Kinnikuman Big Body is one of the Five Fated Princes, a group of Choujins born on the same day at the same hospital as Kinnikuman, who, due to a nursery mishap, might plausibly be the true heir to the Kinniku throne. Each of the Fated Princes acted as an avatar of one of the five evil Gods; in Big Body's case, he was possessed by the God of Strength, being the largest and physically strongest of the Fated Princes. Despite this, Big Body is notorious for being one of the biggest jobbers in the series, losing his one and only on-screen fight in a matter of seconds in order to hype up Kinnikuman Super Phoenix as a major antagonist (this is reflected by his low health in this game). This crushing defeat, without having thrown a single punch, have given him somewhat of a meme status and a bit of a cult following in Japan (the lack of reference material also meant Big Body is the only character in this game whose moveset was invented wholesale).

The authors eventually gave him his moment to shine in the revival, some 32 years later.

Gameplay

Big Body is the epitome of a glass cannon: He has simultaneously the lowest health as well as the highest damage rating in the game. This means he hits like a truck, only needing 2-3 good hits to take the round, but on the flipside, he himself can die in 2-3 combos from the average character. This lends itself to a very high-risk high-reward gameplan, where the smallest mistake from either side can be round-ending.

Contrary to a typical glass cannon archetype, Big Body is, well...a Big Body. This means a large hurtbox, and fairly slow buttons, which is somewhat at odds with the risky nature of his stats. His slow buttons often mean Big Body might have a harder time getting in and starting his pressure, and conversely, his large hurtbox means characters can often get Big Body-specific combos, In some cases even possibly TOD-ing him due to his low health.
