Gameplay differences are generally minor.
PlayStation 4 - “Virtual-On Masterpiece 1995-2001” ver 1.03
- Widescreen display. Larger field of view. It’s easier to see attacks off to the sides. Can watch your opponent even after they have exited lock-on area.
- Explosion-type attacks expand speed reduced over 360, more arcade accurate ?
- Hit detection on VR is less lenient than arcade, it is slightly harder to get hit.
- Unknown
! Fixed/removed in patch 1.03: Many VRs gained instant melee cancel routes not in original game.
Xbox 360 / Xbox One (backwards compatibility) - “Virtual-On OT”
- Widescreen display option. Larger field of view. It’s easier to see attacks off to the sides. Can watch your opponent even after they have exited lock-on area.
- Increased movement speed drop when near opponent.
- All explosion-type attacks are slightly stronger: Multiple-stage attacks that cause explosions generate/expand more quickly. For example grenade attacks or Raiden RW.
- Projectile priorities slightly altered (attack specific). Combined with the above, explosions attacks have slightly better priority because they may activate/trade earlier.
- Other multi-stage attacks are slightly faster: Bal-bados Vulcan Bit and House.
- Hit detection on VR is less lenient than arcade, it is slightly harder to get hit.
- Damage is delayed by a few frames from landing a hit.
