Kanon

Introduction

Kanon serves as a servant for the Ushiromiya family. His backstory is fascinating.

Pros
+ Long range normals ('Sword Normals'.)
+ Good mobility with a command jump, wall jump, command dashes and overall speed.
+ Can do scary block strings with his command jump to reset them.
+ Is able to do extended air combos off of tags thanks to his wolf jump series.
+ Long hitstun/blockstun on normals when canceled.

Cons
- Normals tend to trade more often than the other sword characters.
- Lacks high end damage in comparison to other characters.
- Mediocre ability.
- Low health.
- Non SP Shoryuken has no invincibility.
- Most normals have horrible recovery when not canceled.


Health - 1200.


Ability

Silent Attack
This will drastically decrease the amount of SP your opponent gains from your attacks.

Triangle Jump 「三角飛び」 ― j.9 against a wall

Kanon jumps off the wall behind him. Useful for escaping corner pressure.

Wolf Jump 「跳狼」 ― 41236ABC

Kanon performs a small, fast leap forward. Distance travelled depends on the version used, with A being the smallest jump and C being the largest. Air normals can be performed after Kanon reaches the peak of the jump. Is usable in the air.

Water Slice 「水面斬り」 ― 623ABC

The basic dragon punch move. Stronger versions send Kanon further into the air, and deal extra damage.

Shadow Slice 「影斬り」 ― 214ABC
  • (A version) - Hollow

Kanon dashes forward a short amount, but does nothing. A feint move to confuse an opponent ready for one of the other two versions.

  • (B version) - Surface

Kanon dashes forward and slashes at the enemy, ending in front of them. Ends in a knockdown.

  • (C version) - Opposite side

Kanon dashes forward and slashes while continuing past the opponent to end up behind them. Kanon will not end up behind enemy if slash occurs in corner. Ends pressure, but is mostly safe.

Kanon stays quite low to the ground (crouch height) when performing this special. For B and C versions, Kanon still slashes even when enemy is high in the air above Kanon and completely out of slash's range.

Crescent Moon Slice 「三日月斬り」 ― j.236ABC

Kanon sends a small red slash into the air beneath him. B and C versions cause him to stop in the air momentarily before landing. j.B j.236A is possible.

Moon Reflection Slice 「水月斬」 ― 623A+B

A super dragon punch, but performs one low hit first. Generally rather mediocre, but does have invincibility.

Shadow Trisection 「影殺三段」 ― 214A+B

Kanon performs the 214B version of Shadow Slice and follows up with two more slashes. Gives an extra 300 damage above the non-meter version. Hard to punish.

Linked Crescent Moons 「連ね三日月」 ― j.236A+B

Kanon sends a large arc diagonally down. This one works as a proper projectile, continuing until it collides or falls off screen, and hits up to four times for 588 damage and knockdown.

  • 2B > 5B > 5C > 2C > 623C - 1143 damage. Quick and easy.
  • 2B > 5B > 5C > 2C > 41236B > j.B > j.C > land > 5B > 623C - 1461 damage. Way harder then the above combos but well worth the effort if your consistent.
  • j.B > j.C > Land > j.A > j.B > j.C > Land > 5A > 5B > 2B > 5C > 2C > 41236B > j.B > j.C > Land > 5B > 623A. 2204 damage, stuns, meterless.

Metered

  • 2B > 5B > 5C > 2C > 236236C - 1416, easy 2 meter tons of stun.
  • 2B > 5B > 5C > dash > 5A > 5A > 2B > 5B > 5C > 2C > 623C - 1492 damage, Basic meter combo easy
  • 2B > 5B > 5C > dash > 5A> 5A > 2B > 5B > 5C > 2C > 41236B > j.B > j.C > land > 5B > 623C - 1722 damage, harder version of above.


Off Tag

  • 2B > 6C > 623C - 923 damage
  • Meta Super - 973 damage
  • 6C > j.B > j.C > j.236A+B - 1185 damage, put a delay before 6C otherwise 236A+B will whiff

Blockstrings


  • You can cancel into your aerial specials after Kanon's attack touch before he lands.
