Additional Notes

Puppet Master Jutsu

Chiyo features an unusual control scheme: aside from her Throw, AirThrow and Special Jutsu, she has no physical attacks at all. Instead, her moveset is governed by her two puppets: Mother and Father.

  • Mother is controlled with Weak Attack and uses quick attacks that lack range.
  • Father is controlled with Strong Attack and uses long-ranged attacks that cover wide areas, but take a long time to come out.

Mother and Father's attacks are always guaranteed to come out once they've been started, even if Chiyo gets hit afterwards. However, the puppets float above the stage and cannot be interacted with, which also means that they will not move alongside Chiyo. Instead, they remain in their current position unless recalled with DownThrowWeak Attack (Mother) or DownThrowStrong Attack (Father).

Because of her unique controls, Chiyo does not have traditional strings like the rest of the cast. In return, Chiyo can uniquely chain Mother's attacks with Father's, and vice versa.

Chakra Shield

By using BackThrow, Chiyo can deploy the Chakra Shield, draining her Chakra Gauge for as long as it is active. The shield acts as an absolute defense: it can defend her against any Unblockable attack, reflect any reflectable projectiles, and prevent Chiyo from taking chip damage. In return, attacks that hit the Chakra Shield will inflict the maximum blockstun possible, and it does not protect her from Throws.

Latent Ninja Power
  • LNP activates at 30% health remaining and grants these buffs:
    • BackThrow no longer requires Chakra to be maintained.
    • When using DownThrowWeak Attack and DownThrowStrong Attack, the respective puppet will instantly teleport towards Chiyo.
    • In Two Man Squad and Co-op Squad, assists called by Chiyo will only cost 25% of the partner's Chakra Gauge.
Other
  • As a result of her usage of multiple entities in battle, battles against Chiyo feature different camera patterns.
  • Under normal conditions (such as console play), matches that features multiple entities on the screen (such as a Chiyo mirror match) will lock the game's framerate to 30 FPS.
  • Chiyo's (behind obstacle) Weak Attack and Strong Attack are her RunWeak Attack and RunStrong Attack respectively.
