xSSBC_DonkeyKong_Stock.pngDonkey Kong(ドンキーコング), also referred to as "DK", is a powerful ape that originated in the Arcade game Donkey Kong. While the character was designed to be antagonistic at first, from Donkey Kong Country onward he was more of a heroic character with a love for bananas and his prolific red tie. DK continues to swing through many recent hits, recent of those being Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. However, he and xSSBC_Mario_Stock.pngMario sometimes go head to head over the love of Pauline in the Mario VS. Donkey Kong spin-off series.
Swings his arm rapidly to charge. Pressing the button again or reaching full charge unleashes a powerful punch.

Trivia
DK is one of few characters to swap character themes due to a new addition in an update. (In this case, Jungle Japes.)
For the longest time, he had the cute character/weak version of the smash attack sound. This is no longer the case as of 9.4.
In 9.4, he gains lines from Takashi Nagasako's portrayals of the character from Mario Kart Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns. This is the first time that Donkey Kong gains his voice from the Donkey Kong & Mario series instead of the gorilla grunts from either Brawl or Smash 4 in a Smash fangame.
