Super Naruto: Clash of Ninja 4/Netplay
Setting up
Acquiring Game ISO
Ask around the GNT Discord server as to how you can obtain the mod's ISO or a vanilla ISO to patch the mod in yourself. Also, make sure that you have the same version as your opponent, or there will be issues when trying to play.
Dolphin Emulator
Download the Dolphin Emulator.
- Preference is given to development versions, rather than stable releases or beta builds.
- Other versions of Dolphin (such as Faster Melee 5.9F Dolphin Version) will work, but both you and your opponent must use the same version.
- Alternatively, you could use the Kuroha Saenoki Translation Dolphin Build with Fixed AR Codes for Netplay, which should also work fine when playing other 5.0-321 Dolphin builds.
Controller Setup
Set up your game controller by selecting "Controllers"
- If you would like to use a GameCube controller, use this info from the official Dolphin Wiki.
- If you would like to use a third-party device (i.e. DualShock or fightstick), click "Controllers" in the Dolphin menu, select "Standard Controller" for Port 1, click "Configure," select your device from the "Device" drop-down menu, and then bind your buttons to your preferred controls. When you are finished, type in a name in the "Profile" box and click "Save" to make sure your settings are not deleted.
Settings
Hit "Browse" and select the folder that SCON4 is in. SCON4 should now show up in your game list on the main Dolphin menu. Give the game a test play to make sure your controller is working, and that you hit a consistent 60FPS.
Using Netplay
To begin Netplay, go to "Tools" > "Start Netplay..." and in the top-left, select "Traversal Server." If you are hosting, you will get a "Room ID" for your opponent to connect to.
- If not, politely wait for your opponent to send you their "Host Code."
The pad buffer should be the ping divided by 8, rounded up.
- Every 4 pad buffer is 1 frame.
For versions of Dolphin at base 5.0 and older, divide by 15.
- If the game is stuttering too much, increase the pad buffer.
SCON4 always boots with the community/tournament standard game settings set by default, which are:
- Damage setting: 2
- Rounds to win: 3
- Round timer: 90 seconds
If the chat window says there was a possible desync, confirm with your opponent that you’re both seeing the same thing when there’s some downtime.
- If you are not both seeing the same thing, a desync happened, and you’ll have to restart the session.
