Assists this character provides

2MK (default assist)

Two hit low assist.

Throw

Valentine's normal throw stands out as a the most useful normal throw assist in the game. The crumple starts a combo for a point character just as easily as it would for Valentine.

Vial Hazard

SG val qcbp assist.png

A setup assist. If Val doesn't already have a vial loaded, she will load up a poison and leave the screen. If called a second time, or whenever she still has a vial loaded, she will perform Flew Shot to throw the loaded vial at the opponent. Between the 3 variations of poisons, this assist has a variety of utility between pure damage, combo setups, or stronger resets.

H Savage Bypass

SG val qcfk assist.png

Valentine rushes forward to nearly fullscreen distance. Pushes the opponent very far back on block, and on hit knocks them backwards for a conversion. This is generally Valentine's best assist.

Mortuary Drop (214LP+LK)

SG val qcbthrow.png

A long range throw assist that gives the point character time to set up resources.

5MK

5 hit short ranged lockdown assist

Assists this character especially benefits from

  • Valentine benefits greatly from an assist that lets her load vials during a combo. This lets her apply the status effect during the same combo, or to use for later.
    • Examples: Excellebella (Cerebella), H A-train (Big band)
  • Valentine likes to have a horizontal assist that she can approach behind with her fast run.
    • Examples: M Bomber (Double)
  • Any assist that will let Valentine convert off of her long ranged ground normals like 5MK, 5HP, 5HK and Dead Cross will greatly improve her grounded neutral.
    • Examples: M Bomber (Double), H LnL (Cerebella)
  • Due to Valentine's poor anti-airs and meterless defence, she likes to have a vertical DP assist or a vertical assist that can similarly be used to stop airborne approaches.
    • Examples: L Beat Extend (Big Band), H Updo (Filia), Excellabella (Cerebella), H Spiral (Eliza)

DHCs

  • EKG is Valentine's highest damage 1 meter DHC and is what should be used for damage enders. Note that EKG will throw the opponent to the opposite side of the screen if it doesn't kill.
  • Scalpels rarely does much damage as a DHC unless it is done from some distance as most of the scalpels will miss. Scalpels does allow Valentine to convert into a full combo in the corner however, so long as OTG has not been used. When done from long range, Scalepels DHC is safe versus most of the cast. Just note that some characters can punish (e.g. Cerebella can deflect the scalpels for a full combo and Double can punish with Car).
  • Level 3 is Valentine's highest damage super and gives an additional vial load. Note that if you want to DHC from level 3 then you have to do it before most of the damage is applied so it should only ever be used as an ender.
  • Level 5 will revive your dead character if it is done on their body and it gives an otgless pick up anywhere on screen. Note that level 5 does less damage than level 3 though so if you aren't going to revive a teammate by doing it then this is not recommended.

Meter management

  • Valentine needs 1 meter to have access to air Bypass, Scalpels as Bypass is very unsafe on block.
  • Once Valentine has 2 meters she can use her counter as a reversal as well as punish assist calls with countervenom if she has a vial loaded.
  • When Valentine reaches 5 meters she can revive one of her teammates.
